TIMBER TYPES
Straight grained uniform hardwood from local sustainability managed forests.
Premium West Australian timber, deep red and very hard and durable.
Little known Victorian with plenty of character, grain, gum veins and hobnails are prominent, hard and durable.
Light colored timber, sensational grain and very hard and durable. Previously utliised in bridges, woolsheds and piers.
Full of character red timber that develops a rich patina with age to enhance the furniture appearance. Hard as nails, was used as railway sleepers and fencing in our colonial past.
The Sapwood of American Oak is light coloured and the heartwood is light to dark brown. It is mostly straight grained with a medium course texture.
Heartwood pale brown, but Northern material may sometimes display a pink tinge. Texture medium and even, Grain usually straight. Gum veins are common.
The luscious Tasmanian, honey coloured but with a wide variety of tones throughout. Has been a desirable furniture timber since the colonial days.
The Sapwood is creamy white, heartwood is light brown to dark chocolate brown, occasionally with a purplish cast and darker streaks.
Basically is messmate. Minimal gum veins less than 60mm long & 5mm wide. Very few in each board. Will have crowning and flowing grain.
